Kraßikow, Samara.  Werter Editor und Leser!  In No. 12 der Rundschau läszt mit einem Mal nach langem Warten mein Vetter Franz Görzen, Kansas, sich hören.  Lieber Vetter, es war mir so, als wenn du selbst hier wärst.  Ich danke dir herzlich für den Aufsatz; denn wenn ein Aufsatz in der Rundschau von Görzen kommt, wird er genau beprüst, ob es von unsern Freunden sein kann.  Ich habe dich schon mehrmal in Verdacht gehabt, glaube es jetzt, dasz ich auch eher in der Rundschau gelesen von dir.  Jetzt werde ich dir noch etwas von unserem Befinden berichten.  Wir wohnen in Samara, im Dorfe Kraßikow schon 20 Jahre, haben 40 Deßj. Land und besäen noch 39 Dessj. Pachtland.  Im vorigen Jahr hatten wir 60 Dessj. gesäet und bekamen 283 Tsch. Weizen und auch schön hafer und Gerste.  Kartoffeln verkauften wir für 75 Rbl., haben also über Not nich zu klagen, wie die Schwester Töws in Sibirien; dem herrn sei die Ehre.


Wir haben sechs Kinder, Kornelius, Anna, Peter, Elisabeth, Maria und Justina.  Der Aelteste ist 23 und der Jüngste 11 Jahre, alle sehr gesunde Kinder.  Sie können sehr arbeiten; haben sie auch noch alle zuhause.


Liebe Tante, Sie sind jetzt doppelt unsre Tante, denn Ihr zweiter Mann, Heinrich Koop war meiner Frau Onkel.  Meine Frau ist Kornelius Koopen Anna, von Fürstenwerder.  Der Schwiegervater ist schon 10 Jahre bei uns, ist noch schön gesund, kann noch immer au der hobelbank arbeiten.  Er sucht in jeder Rundschau, ob auch nach etwas von seinem Bruder Klaas Koop zu hören ist. Er würde gerne mal was hören.


Liebe Onkel und Tante Heinrich Görzen, Kansas, jetzt komme ich noch zu Ihnen.  Weil ich kürzlich in der Rundschau gelesen habe, dasz sie noch in Kansas wohnen und schön gesund und am Leben sind, so will ich auch Ihnen ein Lebenszeichen geben.  Von unserem Befinden habe ich obe gelesen.


Der Vater und vier Geschwister wohnen im Pawlodarischen, Tomsk, Dorf Steinfeld.  Anna ist verheiratet mit Kornelius Klassen, Fürstenwerder, Katharina mit Martin Ham, Rückenau; die jüngste Schwester Aganeta meldete sich mit Aron Löwen von Fürstenau.  Sie waren alle gesund, als sie den Brief schrieb.  Der Vater war vor Weihnachten sehr krank gewesen. Dem Irdischen nach soll es ihm ganz gut gehen.  Justina ist mit Kornelius Reimer verheiratet von Fürstenwerder, Alte Fehdraus Pflegesohn; Maria mit Jakob Töws Fürstenwerder.

I believe it now that I also read about you in the Rundschau earlier.  Now I'm going to tell you something about our current state.  We live in Samara, in the village Krassikov a good 20 years, have 40 Dessj. [roughly 40 ha] land and sow another 39 Dessj. [roughly 39 ha] rented land.  Last year we sowed 60 Dessj.[roughly 60 ha] and got 283 Tsch.[roughly 1700 US bushels] wheat and also nice oats and barley.  We sold potatoes for 75 Rbl., so we don't have to complain about need, like my sister Töws in Siberia; the Lord be honored.


We have six children, Kornelius, Anna, Peter, Elisabeth, Maria and Justina.  The oldest is 23 and the youngest 11, all very healthy children.  They are very able to work; I have them all still at home.


Dear aunt, you are now twice our aunt, because your second husband, Heinrich Koop was my wife's uncle.  My wife is Kornelius Koop’s Anna, from Fürstenwerder. The father-in-law has been with us for 10 years, is still very healthy and can still work at the workbench.  He looks in every Rundschau to see if there is anything to be heard from his brother Klaas Koop. He would like to hear something.


Dear Uncle and Aunt Heinrich Görzen, Kansas, now I come to you.  Because I have read recently in the Rundschau that you still live in Kansas and are beautifully healthy and alive, I also want to give you a sign of life.  I have already written above about our current condition.


The father and four sisters live in Pavlodarian, Tomsk, Steinfeld village.  Anna is married to Kornelius Klassen of Fürstenwerder, Katharina to Martin Ham of Rückenau; the youngest sister Aganeta has involved herself with Aron Löwen from Fürstenau.  They were all healthy when she wrote the letter.  The father had been very ill before Christmas. In the earthly realm, it is going quite well for him.  Justina is married to Kornelius Reimer of Fürstenwerder, Old Fehdrau’s foster son; Maria with Jakob Töws of Fürstenwerder.
